I woke up to Yin, her body still and peaceful as she layed on me. I felt around for my phone, the text-to-speech feature blaring loudly in my ear when I opened it. Hastily closing the phone to avoid waking her, I felt her head move slightly, a pang of worry coursing through me.

“Yin?” I called softly.

No response. I felt her head shift, her gaze meeting mine.

“Aren't you cold?” she asked, catching me off guard.

“Huh?” I blinked in surprise.

“You're not wearing a shirt,” she pointed out.

It dawned on me as I realized she had slept on my bare chest the entire night. I quickly sat up, a wave of embarrassment washing over me.

“I don’t really mind, but aren't you cold?” I stammered.

“No, I'm alright,” she replied casually.

I laid back down, reaching for my phone.

20 missed calls.

“Oh shit, I forgot to let my mom know,” I sighed, feeling a pang of guilt.

As Yin started cooking breakfast, I dialed my mom's number to inform her that I had stayed over at Yin's because she felt unsafe.

“You made it there in the rain?!” my mom exclaimed in concern.

“Yes, Mom,” I replied.

“Did you bring your stick?” she asked, worry evident in her voice.

“No, Mom, I memorized the route.” I reassured her.

“You... memorized it?” I heard Yin whisper in disbelief.

“You didn't run into fences or walls?” my mom asked, surprised.

“No, I didn't,” I replied.
